I expect my partner to grow and mature with me; we’ll both become different people in time, but I expect her to keep me involved in her growth, and I will do the same for her. I expect to be treated with kindness and that she won’t assume the worst of me. It’s so easy for kindness to disappear as two people spend more time together, but I expect a spouse to make an extra effort to be kinder with me than with other people. I expect a reasonable level of physical intimacy. Intimacy ebbs and flows, but if she's never touching me, holding my hand, embracing me, kissing me on good days and bad days, then the quality of the marriage will deteriorate. Therefore, I expect her to take some initiative here, on an ongoing basis, for the entirety of the marriage.
